Grief Camp for Children

McLaren Grief Camp for Children
Camp Forget--Me-Not

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about McLaren Grief Camp for Children.  Please note that we host several various camps throughout our service area (click here for our map).

Camp Forget-Me-Not is a day camp for children who have experienced the death of a family member or other loved one.  Please check with your specific regional camp for detailed age ranges.  The camp provides grieving children with:

  • The opportunity to share their feelings and memories with other children who are coping with similar loss.
  • Creative educational activities to help children understand their feelings of grief and loss.
  • The chance to remember their loved ones and honor their expressions of grief.
  • A fun weekend with other children who understand, so they do not feel alone in their grief.

Grief Camp is much more than a summer camp. Each year, over 150 children from all over Michigan gather for a weekend of fun, fishing, reflection, and closure. All of the campers have experienced some type of loss, not just through hospice. McLaren Visiting Nurse & Hospice provides this camp for grieving children regardless of how the loss has affected them.
